Using the CSS Password Tool![]()
As of Monday, 18 May 2009, CSS has offered a new password tool. The tool lets you enroll by choosing questions and supplying answers, and it allows you to change your password in any Engineering system for which you have an account. If your password expires before you change it and you have set your questions, you can login to this tool by answering those questions, and then change your password.
Go to the CSS password tool.
The first time you connect you must use your Engineering account ID and that password. Then you select three (3) personal questions from those provided and create at least one (1) of your own. Remember the answers you give to all the questions. Once you have created your personal questions, when you login you have the choice to use your password or questions to authenticate.
After enrolling, you can login to the password tool using either a current password or answering your personal questions. Once logged in, select Change passwords. If you have an account in other Engineering systems (IIBI, IIHR, CCAD, for example), you can select on which systems to change your password.
Your account password must be changed every 180 days, but can be changed more often using this function.
For more details about using the password tool, read the sections below.
The first time you login, you enter your Engineering account ID and click Log in, then enter your Engineering account password and press Continue. The Answer Personal Questions screen shows Pre-defined example questions, of which you much select three (3) and provide answers. The questions on the 3 drop-down lists are the same. You must also provide at least one (1) User-defined question, though you can provide more if you like. You cannot exit from this page until you have answered at least four (4) questions. Answers are not case sensitive, and spaces are valid and must be used when you answer the questions to re-enter the site.

Once you have answered at least 4 questions, you see the main menu, which has options to Change passwords and Answer personal questions. (You can ignore the Add login accounts option.)
When you select Change passwords, you see the password rules for length and characters required. You also get a list of 10 qualifying passwords in case you cannot think of one. If you have accounts in more than one system, all systems are selected by default; uncheck as appropriate.

You can change the pre-defined questions you answer and add your own user-defined question after you login. Select Answer personal questions from the main menu or from the toolbar on the left of the screen.
After setting your questions, when you return to the password tool, you can use either your password or questions to authenticate.

Do not forget to log out (look in the upper left corner of the screen) when you are done using the password tool.
Read the password policies.
