Pro/ENGINEER (Pro/E) Information

Local Usage Information

The Engineering network runs the educational version of Pro/E, which creates models that are not viewable by the commercial version of Pro/E. To change an educational Pro/E model to be viewable as a commercial model, follow these steps:

1. Open the file which has the model you want to convert.

2. Go to Tools | Floating Modules, check EDU_COM_Convert, and click OK. The message window at the bottom of the Pro/E windows shows: “Option EDU_COM_Convert has been added to the current session”.

3. Save this model file, which is a commercial file. Use Save a Copy to save it by another name. The message window shows: “This file can be used by commercial license. File has been saved”.

Linux Use

To run, type proe from a shell prompt.

Download Pro/E

Engineering students can download and use Pro/ENGINEER on personal Windows computers. The download site includes links to directions on requesting a license, downloading the disk images, and installing Pro/E. Note: to connect to the download page requires authentication with your Engineering account and password.
