Email Server Name
The college mail server is an IMAP server, which handles both IMAP and POP protocols. When you configure your mail client, use
mail.engineering.uiowa.edu
for both the incoming and the outgoing/sending mail server. As of 25 August 2007, no other mail server names will work. Before that date, you will need to edit the appropriate settings.

If you use Webmail, no changes are necessary.
If you use Thunderbird , go to Tools | Account Settings | Server Settings and verify or change the Server Name to mail.engineering.uiowa.edu. Then select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the left column and verify or Edit the engineering account Server Name to mail.engineering.uiowa.edu. Click OK twice.
If you use Eudora, go to Tools | Options | Getting Started and set the Mail Server (Incoming) and SMTP Server (Outgoing) to: mail.engineering.uiowa.edu. Click OK.
If you use Outlook, go to Tools | Options, on Mail Setup tab select E-mail Accounts.... From the Account Settings screen, highlight your engineering account and click Change. Change Incoming and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) to mail.engineering.uiowa.edu, as shown at right. Click Next, then Finish.
