My report prints slow from the "Crystal Report Viewer"
window.
Running Reports
"Crystal Report Viewing Log On" window appears
Caused by:
- All of the runtime licenses for the report system are in use.
Solution: Close the "Log On" window, and either re-run the report a
couple of minutes later, or come back later and run it.
See info on "Scheduling Report" window about how to re-run report.- You've had 5 minutes of inactivity in the "Crystal Report Viewer" window causing
the runtime license to "timeout".
Solution: Close "Log On" window.
Close "Crystal Report Viewer" window.
Then, if necessary:
Click on "Scheduling Report" window Refresh/Reload browser button to re-run report
using the same parameters.

Use link on "Scheduling Report" window to re-run report using different parameters.- You are using Mozilla 1.6 browser, and as the "Crystal Report Viewer" window
opens up you get the above "Log On" window.
Solution: Close "Log On" window.
Close "Crystal Report Viewer" window.
Go back to "Scheduling Report" web page.
From Tools Menu, choose Cookie Manager, then select the option
"Allow all cookies from this site".
Then, click on "Scheduling Report" window's Refresh/Reload browser
button, and accept the prompt that appears, to re-run report using the
same parameters.

Use link on "Scheduling Report" window to re-run report using different parameters.

No data, only a graphic, in "Crystal Report Viewer" window after clicking "Run Report" button
Caused by:
- Incorrect parameter values or parameter values that cause nothing to be selected.
Solution: Close "Crystal Report Viewer" window, click on "Re-Run Current Report w/New Parameters" link
on "Scheduling Report" page, re-enter correct values.- Data not accessible by user.
Solution: Check permission for your login to use the data. Email datamgr@engineering.uiowa.edu.
When using Internet Explorer, "Crystal Report Viewer" window is blank after clicking "Run Report" button and waiting
Caused by:
When using Internet Explorer, just a blank, grey-colored window appears with nothing in it. This is a result of the Microsoft
Virtual Machine" (Java runtime environment, which is needed by the viewer) not being installed into the Windows system
(installing it is optional now).
Solution: Close "Crystal Report Viewer" window.Download and install the free Microsoft VM from http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html

Use the Mozilla, or Netscape, browser. If the browser installation does not install Sun's Java, you will need to download and install it from:
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp
Your login name and/or password is not correct for the data base server used by the report
Caused by:
- Incorrect login name and password for the data base server you are trying to access.
Solution: Check that you are using the correct login name (and password) for the data base server you are trying to access.
CSS=Engineering login name and password
EASY=Engineering login name and password
Eng Shops=Engineering login name and password
Registrar=Registrar Data Warehouse login name and password
- Incorrect password for your login name of the data base server you are trying to access.
Solution: Engineering Account: Email datamgr@engineering.uiowa.edu (phone: 335-5757).
Registrar Data Warehouse: Email Carrie Hogarty (phone: 384-0812).
You did not supply value(s) for 1 or more report parameters
Caused by:
Not supplying a value for 1 or more of the parameters on the "Report Parameters" page. OR
Supplying the value but not clicking the ADD button (if there is one) for it, to make it effective.
Solution: Close "Preparing Report" window, click on "Re-Run Current Report w/New Parameters"
link in "Scheduling Report" window, enter values and, if need be, click ADD button for all parameters,
click Run Report.
Exporting Reports
Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) document displays text as bullets
Caused by:
"Use Local Fonts" not selected on "View" menu within Adobe Acrobat.
Solution: Select "Use Local Fonts" on "View" menu (Ctrl+Shift+Y).
Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) document prints text as boxes
Caused by:
"Save Printer Memory " box not checked on "Print" window when printing the document.
Solution: Check the "Save Printer Memory" checkbox on "Print" window (postscript driver only).
Exported
documents do not show up on the Desktop or are not seen by Windows
Explorer
in the folder that they were exported to.
Solution: If exported to Desktop, right-click on desktop and choose "Refresh". If exported into
a folder, choose "Refresh" from the View Menu on Windows Explorer toolbar.
Printing Reports
Caused by:
Closed "Crystal Report Viewer" window before report printing finished.
Solution: Check that all pages of report have printed before closing "Crystal Report Viewer" window.
Report prints slow from "Crystal Report Viewer" window
Caused by:
Inadequate computer memory.
Solution: Increase computer memory. Choose fastest laser printer available on "Print" dialog box when printing report.
