CSS Account Services CSS offers additional disk quota for a fee, file restores, regular backups of D: drives on faculty and staff computers in SC, and firewall service. Read the service details . The cost of additional disk storage was lowered in April 2007.
CSS Quick Start Guide 4-page introduction to how to start using the computers and lab.
Disk Quota and How To Manage File Space The account quota is the amount of disk space you have to store files. Linux and Windows files are stored in a single user account, which can be seen from either type of computer. The disk quota system uses a hard quota and a soft quota. Your soft quota is the amount of space allocated to your account. If you exceed your soft quota for more than seven days, it automatically becomes your hard quota.
Mail Quota Mail quota is separate from disk quota. Each account has a mail quota for storing and receiving mail. This mail quota is separate from your account quota and is in effect no matter what mail client you use. When you run out of mail storage space, delete messages you no longer need or transfer saved mail to your home directory. Things that take up space that you may not be aware of are attachments (delete copies you have stored elsewhere) and copies of sent messages. To check your mail quota, go to the Account Tools page and check the mail status link. If you read mail with Webmail, your mail use and quota show above the Inbox listing or the message when reading your mail.
Print Quota Currently students are allocated $10.00 for printing. Students can pay cash to purchase additional print quota in the Engineering Electronics Shop, 2018 SC. Students see the Papercut balance window in the top right of the screen of the Windows screen. Click Details... in the Papercut balance window for information about the number of print jobs, pages, and the environmental impact your printing had. You can minimize the Papercut window.
